El Ribazo is one of our best family vineyards with 11 has. (27,18 acres) located on the edge of Villabuena in Rioja Alavesa. It was planted in 1984, although the property has being in the family since XIX century, on gently sloping hillsides, surrounded by the Cantabrian mountains and protected to the north and south by large “ribazos” (steep banks). The soil composition, orientation and age of the vineyard, give it a special character and make it excellent for high quality harvests.

Thanks to the favorable weather during the year and moderate yields, the DOCa Rioja classified this vintage as EXCELLENT, and one of the three best in the last 30 years.

Product Description

The composition is made up of Tempranillo grapes carefully handpicked for this wine.
Aged for 24 months in American and French oak casks, and kept for a few months in vats to ensure a good blending of the wine before bottling.

COLOR: Bright, clean, intense garnet red. Violet hues with little sign of evolution.
AROMAS: High, sharp intensity on the nose. Red-berry fruit over a base of cocoa, toasted, and balsamic nuances coming through. When the wine is swirled, the intensity grows, with reminders of sweet roots and ginger also appearing.
BOCA: Lively mouth-feel, whole, balanced tannins. Flavours of fresh red fruit mingling with spiciness and hints of minerals. In the aftertaste, it is long, fresh and persistent.
