Produced from a coupage of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano from our best and oldest vineyards. After fermenting at a low temperature to preserve the fruit aromas, it has spent 2 and a half years in American (40%) and French (60%) oak casks and over 3 further years maturing in the bottle cellar of our Bodega.
VALSERRANO GRAN RESERVA 2012
The 2012 vintage was low in quantity due to the drought, but it had a good balance between alcoholic strength and polyphenol content, allowing us to make fine quality wines with good cellaring potential. The vintage was classified as VERY GOOD by the Rioja DOCa.
COLOUR: Garnet red with elegant evolution towards shades of ruby around the rim of the glass.
AROMAS: With the glass held still, intense, fresh nuances of red berries (blackcurrants, cranberries). When swirled in the glass, more complex aromas appear, recalling roots, such as ginger, tobacco, cedar wood, sweet spices, such as cinnamon, with the fine, well-integrated tertiary aromas beginning to come through.
MOUTH: A powerful, voluptuous, elegant attack, with its backbone tamed. Your taste buds are refreshed by the soft, polished, tasty tannins, in perfect harmony with the alcohol. A very long and flavoursome finish.
