The wine has aged in a 5,000-litre oak vat and then in American- and French-oak casks. It conserves the style of a typical Villabuena Tempranillo, deep and powerful, while at the same time fresh and elegant.
EL RIBAZO 2016
Terroir wine from the El Ribazo vineyard with 35-year-old Tempranillo vines. EL RIBAZO is an 11-hectare vineyard situated in Villabuena de Álava, which belongs to the family. It was planted on gently sloping hillsides, protected to both the north and the south by pronounced banks. The soil composition, the orientation of the vineyard and the age of the vines give it a distinctive character and make it ideal for obtaining TOP QUALITY harvests.
COLOR: Deep cherry colour with clean, bluish glints around the rim of the glass.
AROMAS: With the glass held still, dark-berried fruit nuances appear, such as blueberries and blackberries, and even hints of violets. When the wine is swirled, the reminders of black fruit are heightened and aromas of liquorice appear, along with some lactic tones.
BOCA: The attack is fresh and powerful. A creamy mid palate with a degree of minerality, controlled by good acidity and balanced structure. It wraps around the mouth, leaving flavours of blackberries and liquorice. The aftertaste is long, pleasant and flavoursome.
