A few months ago, we told you that we were in a middle of the process of categorizing and restyling our wines. In April, we told you about our best-known category, Valserrano. Today is the turn of our single estate wines, which from now on we will call “SELECCIÓN TERRUÑO”. Now there are only two wines, but there will probably be others in the future. This two wines come from two very different and very special vineyards for our family and for the winery. Limited and careful production wines that define the typicity of our vineyards:
FINCA MONTEVIEJO: which first vintage was released with the Harvest of 2000, given the age of the vineyard (planted in 1928) is having less production each year, although always of great quality. We will try, working the vineyard with all our dedication and love, to make it last as long as possible.
FINCA EL RIBAZO: Although the whole vineyard is around 12 ha, for this wine we only use the grapes of five of those hectares, planted in 1985 in Villabuena, mainly with Tempranillo. It has clay soil that is poor in nutrients, with a gentle slope and little erosion: ideal conditions to achieve quality. With the pruning practices we carry out we voluntarily limit its production so that it does not exceed 5.000 Kg./Ha. With the 2017 Harvest, we have bottled only a small selected batch of 7.200 bottles that today, finally, sees the light with a total change not only of the packaging, but also with an evolution of the interior, valuing the maximum expression of the estate and of the Tempranillo grape.
This Finca el Ribazo 2017 that we present to you today is a powerful and deep wine, while fresh and elegant.
