Did you know that the first brand to be bottled and marketed at Bodegas de la Marquesa was Marques de la Solana?
Around 1860 Mr. Francisco Javier Solano y Eulate, Marques de la Solana, was the owner in Villabuena de Alava of some hectares dedicated to the cultivation of grain and vines, as well as a winery where “young wines” were made and destined for consumption on the Basque Country market.
At the end of 1880 is when the founder began the aging in oak barrels of the wines produced by his vineyards, following the methods applied at the time in Bordeaux, and began to bottle and sell them under the brand “Marqués de la Solana ”as fine table wines.
Since then and until today, several generations have passed, different renovations, many harvests and above all many curiosities that we will tell you in small pills in the coming weeks.
