The latest edition of the Wines from Spain Awards competition has awarded the Valserrano Blanco Gran Reserva 2008, from Viñedos y Bodegas de la Marquesa, as the best Spanish white wine over £ 10 in the UK.

Wines from Spain Awards is organized by the Department of Wines from Spain office in London. The event, which is an important support to the wineries present in the UK and aims to inform the British consumer about the diversity and quality of Spanish wines, have chosen the 100 best Spanish wines present in the British market in 2015. The selection of the winners has been in charge of a large group of expert wine tasters including buyers, journalists and members of the Institute of Masters of Wine, led by Tim Atkin MW.

The Valserrano White Gran Reserva 2008 is made from white grapes of the varieties “Viura” and “Malvasia” coming from the highest, poorest and oldest vineyards of the winery, where the aeration and insolation to which they are exposed make them strains, so that they produce the best fruits. Fermented in oak Allier barrels of “fine grain” and then aged on their lees in those same barrels for 28 months. Bottled around 2.660 bottles on April 2011.

This recognition is added to other national and international awards obtained recently: 92 Points Stephen Tanzer IWC, 92+ Pts Robert Parker Wine Advocate, 93 Pts Penin Guide, 95 Pts Guide Proensa, Double Gold Medal in the Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition.
